Getting Started with Mnemosyne.
Explore the main areas of Mnémosyne and set up your first workspace: a client folder, an assignment if necessary, a document, a note, and then your first search.
Only one actual file is enough to learn.
You don't need to set up your entire business before you start using Mnémosyne.
The easiest way to understand the application is to start with a real client file and then gradually add the elements you need to it.
You'll learn Mnémosyne's logic as you work: client files, assignments (if necessary), documents, notes, and then research.
Just prepare The essentials.
Open Mnemosyne
Launch the app after installing it and review the welcome screen.
Put together a portfolio
Choose a first client or a specific case rather than trying to resume your entire business right away.
Gather a few pieces
If you're reviewing existing data, have the client's name, a few documents, and the most important notes ready.
Keep names clear
Descriptive names for folders and documents make it easier to find them later.
Your First Case in just a few steps.
This workflow follows the recommended order in the user guide. One task is optional: create it only when your folder contains a piece of work that deserves to be identified separately.
Read the welcome screen and familiarize yourself with the main area of the app.
When you launch the app for the first time, enter the name of your workspace and your activity if the wizard asks you to.
The client file serves as the logical starting point for centralizing information and gradually linking the rest of the work to it.
Use a task when a case, a milestone, or an assignment needs to be tracked separately within the file.
Link the document to the correct client file and, if it belongs to a specific job, to the relevant project.
Record a decision, an observation, or a follow-up that will help explain what happened in the case file.
Search for the client, project, or document you just created to make sure you know how to find your information.
Two tools to keep in mind: investigator and inspector.
You don't need to memorize the entire interface right away.
The global search lets you quickly find an item when you know what you're looking for. The inspector then helps you understand its information and relationships.
If you're not sure where to find a piece of information or what it's related to, start with these two sections.
The Customer Profile is the starting point.
Start by creating the customer record that will serve as the foundation for the rest of the work.
Use «New Customer» in the action bar or the equivalent command in the active view.
Identify the client or case with a title that is sufficiently descriptive.
Add the contact information and administrative details that are truly necessary for your follow-up.
Save the record before continuing with the tasks, documents, and notes.
The goal of the initial setup is not to immediately rebuild your entire organization. A real folder is enough to understand how Mnémosyne works.
Add a mission if the job requires it.
An assignment is used to organize a project, a work phase, or a task related to a client file.
If your first portfolio contains only one simple topic, you can get started without an assignment.
If a specific task needs to be identified separately, create a task with a clear title so that you can then attach the relevant documents and notes to it.
A document and a memo are enough to understand the logic.
Once you've created your first folder, add a few real items rather than immediately filling it with data.
Import your first part
Select the client folder to which the file belongs, specify the project only if necessary, and select the appropriate document type.
Documents Guide →Keep a record of the initial information
Write down a decision, an observation, or a follow-up. Relate the note to a context you're familiar with, or complete it later if necessary.
Guide: Working Notes →Don't finish without testing the search.
The final step recommended for your first file is to search for what you just created.
This step provides an immediate understanding of Mnemosyne's logic: retaining information is useful, but it is also necessary to be able to retrieve it along with its context.
Once you've opened the result, use the Inspector to check what's connected to what.
Just adjust what you need.
The Settings let you customize Mnémosyne, but you don't need to change everything when you first launch it.
Language
Make sure that the language and formats used by the app match your preferences.
Lock
Adjust the auto-lock setting based on your work environment and privacy needs.
Modules
Enable only the modules you actually need, such as the financial module when applicable.
No activation is not necessary.
If you installed Mnémosyne from the Mac App Store, you can start working right after installation.
The Mac App Store version does not require a manual activation process. If you are using the version purchased directly from KharonBridge, license management is explained in the troubleshooting guide.
