User Guide · The Notebook

Photos and Clara.

Add a photo to a post or use Clara to take a step back and reflect on your words. Both of these features are optional: your text remains the starting point.

To add to what you said

Write first. Then add more.

The Journal is, first and foremost, a place where you can keep your own thoughts.

A photo can provide a visual cue for the moment you want to capture. Clara can help you clarify what you just wrote.

Neither of these two functions is required to create an entry. Use them only when they add value to what you want to keep.

Two complementary functions
1
Type your text Always start with what you want to add to your notebook.
2
Add a photo Associate an image with the entry when that visual cue makes sense to you.
3
Use Clara if necessary Ask for clarification when you want to look at your words from a different perspective.
4
Keep your wording You are free to edit your text or leave it as is.
Add a photo

Add an image upon your arrival.

You can add a photo while writing if this feature is available in your plan.

1
Tap «Photo»

Use the "Photo" button while writing your post.

2
Choose your image

Take a new photo or select an image from your photo library.

3
Grant access if necessary

When the device prompts you, grant the necessary permission for the feature you want to use.

4
Check the preview

You can remove the photo before it is published and then select another one.

5
Publish the post

The photo and text are saved together when you publish the post.

About the photos

A few points to know.

Your Offer

The feature may depend on your plan

If a padlock appears next to the Photo feature, open «Me» and then «View Offers» to check the permissions associated with your account.

Continued

A photo can accompany a series

When you continue an entry, a new photo can also be included with that section if your plan allows it.

i
Is the camera still inaccessible after a rejection?

Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad, find "Le Carnet," and then allow access to the camera. You can also use the photo library selector to choose an existing image.

Clara

Help with clarify your words.

Clara is an optional feature designed to help you take a step back and review what you've just written.

It becomes available after you enter at least 20 characters (excluding spaces) if your plan includes this feature.

Clara does not write your entry for you and does not automatically replace your text.

Using Clara
1
Write first Write down what you want to express in your own words.
2
Tap «Clara» Send a request for clarification and then wait for a response.
3
Read the clarification View the answer without having your draft automatically replaced.
4
Choose the suite Close Clara or use «Edit My Text» to continue writing.
5
Post when you're ready Finish your entry when you're happy with your own words.
Understanding Clara

Clara is there to support. It's up to you.

Clarification is a tool for reading your text, not a substitute for what you have chosen to write.

01 Your words remain your own.

Clara does not automatically replace your text with her response.

02 You don't have to change anything.

A little clarification can simply help you see your thoughts in a different light.

03 The final decision is yours.

Keep your wording, change it, or ignore Clara's response.

Connection and Processing

A Request for Clara requires an Internet connection.

When you request clarification, the relevant text is forwarded to the clarification department so that it can prepare a response.

If you don't want to use this feature, you can simply continue writing and publish your post without asking Clara for help.

i
Using Clara is optional.

The Notebook can be used to write an entry without asking for clarification. Clara is only involved when you explicitly choose to use her.

Your text has changed

Update the clarification if necessary.

If you edit your text after an initial clarification, the app may suggest the «Refresh Clara» action.

Use this only when you want to request further clarification based on the updated version of your text.

↻
A new request corresponds to the current text.

If your writing has changed, updating Clara allows you to get clarification on this new version rather than on the previous text.

Continue a post

Clara can also help with a new passage

In «Continue Entry,» start by writing the new passage.

If the feature is available, use «Clarify with Clara» before recording.

The clarification then pertains to the text you just entered.

Continuing from...

Add some context without deleting what comes before it.

A continuation adds a new section to an existing entry. Clara can be used on this new text before it is saved.

When you're satisfied with your entry, tap «Save» to add it to the timeline of the post.
